Bijli Mahadev

OVERVIEW

The Bijli Mahadev temple is one of the ancient temples of India dedicated to Lord Shiva and was established by Shankaracharya to revive Hinduism. A 60 feet staff at the temple attracts divine lightning that also shatters the Shivling which the priest sticks back together with butter and Sattu. The trek takes you through the picturesque mountains of Himachal with beautiful pine forests and reaches the breath-taking location of a temple situated on top of the hill. The trek becomes more interesting with overnight camping inside the forested ridge of Matikochar. With the valley of Pin Parvati and other majestic peaks, the place is a trekker’s delight and a view worth dying for.
