GHEPAN BASE CAMP TREK
OVERVIEW
Ghepan - the most revered deity of Lahaul Valley is better known as Raja Ghepan, the King. A peak by the same name stands tall like an Emperor rising above the Sissu village. A solitary tower keeping a constant vigil. A massive rock face guarding the valley of Lahaul. A mere glimpse of this peak from Sissu is enough to confirm why it is the undisputed King of the mountains that are in the region. The blue waters of Chandra River give way to the greener pastures, which in turn give way to black rock that mysteriously changes its colour to icy white. And then the icy white submerges with the infinite. The jewel of Lahaul - The King Mountain - Jai Raja Ghepan.

ARRIVAL AT SHOOLING BASE CAMP
Relax, unwind, and have lunch. After lunch, we take you for an acclimatization walk to prepare for the trek. Dinner is followed by star gazing under the sky if the weather permits. Later we gather around the campfire for the next day’s debrief. Overnight at camp.
DRIVE FROM SHOOLING TO LABRANG GOMPA & TREK TO ALIYAS.
We start our trek from Labrang Gompa and gradually gain height trekking along the ridge. The degree of difficulty is moderate and the trail meanders along the Sissu Nala. The left bank of the Sissu Nalla is occupied by shepherds from Mandi and Kullu whereas the right bank belongs to those from Kangra and Chamba. We camp in the meadows that overlook the main Pir Panjal massif in the distance.
TREK FROM ALIYAS TO GHEPAN BASE CAMP.
Trek from Aliyas goes along the irrigation channel and we find little gaddi hutments along the trail constructed in traditional style which is an impeccable work of Pahadi craftsmanship. The lake is situated at a height of 4100 m and is a beautiful gem tucked away in the remote recesses of the Himalayas. The massive expanse of turquoise waters of the lake is bewitching and awe-inspiring at the same time. The monotony of the still waters is broken by countless specs of ice here and there. We set up camp a little above the lake in the surrounding meadows.
TREK FROM G.B.C LAKE TO LABRANG & DRIVE TO SHOOLING
We pack camp after breakfast and trek back to Labrang. It will be a long walk but not difficult as we start losing height today. We get picked up at the road head and drive back to Shooling Base Camp.
DRIVE BACK TO MANALI
After an early morning breakfast, we pack our bags and depart for Manali for our journey back home with wonderful memories made with Adventureism.
